Epiphany's Music Program

Music is central to worship at Church of the Epiphany. It enriches our liturgies with the beauty and depth of sacred music and enhances the spiritual life of our congregation and community.

Music at our Sunday morning Eucharist services is led by a choir of professional singers and dedicated volunteers and offers a blend of tradition and artistry that enhances the spiritual life of our congregation. Each week, the choir leads us in hymns and anthems, thoughtfully chosen to complement the liturgical themes and create a reverent atmosphere of prayer and reflection. Singers interested in joining the Epiphany Choir in a professional or volunteer capacity are encouraged to reach out to our Director of Music, Rebecca Ehren ([email protected]).

Choral Evensong takes place every Sunday at 6pm and is led by a quartet of professional singers who specialize in vocal chamber music. This intimate service of sung prayer celebrates stillness, mystery, and peace. It is meditative, traditional but also relevant, rich but not too long, and offers a sort of spiritual reset going into the week. A reception follows, providing an opportunity for lively fellowship.

Our music program serves not only to elevate our worship but also to foster a sense of community. Through these musical offerings, we seek to inspire and uplift, inviting all to experience the transformative power of music.

Our New Organ

In May 29, 2020, the Church of the Epiphany contracted with M. L. Bigelow & Co., Organ Builders from American Fork, Utah to construct a pipe organ for our new sanctuary.

The new organ will arrive in fall 2025 and be completed winter 2026 and will be Opus 44 for Bigelow & Co. The organ pipes will be placed in two cases in the front of the sanctuary, with the organ console on the left side. The choirs will be located behind the altar, between the two organ cases and back into the apse area.

The three-manual organ will have 40 ranks–comparable to the size of the Aeolian-Skinner organ in our previous building on York Avenue. The key and pedal action will be mechanical with the exception of three ranks: Lieblich Gedackt, Basson, and Fanfare Trumpet, which will be electro-pneumatic. Stop action will be electric with multi-level memory and sequencer.
